Bio

The creation of M.E.E.K.O. started back in his Army days while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Upon arriving at Fort Hood, Nick met a cool dude from Cali by the name of Ivan. Ivan opened his eyes to a whole new genre of music…electronic dance music. Many days were spent after work playing FIFA soccer and John Madden football on Nintendo 64 while listening to mixed CDs by DJs such as Christopher Lawrence, Paul Oakenfold, and Paul Van Dyk. Then one night, Ivan talked Nick into going to a party named “Joy” in Austin, Texas. This was the first time he had experienced this powerful music in real life. DJ Dan, Micro, Christopher Lawrence and several other talented DJs changed Nick’s life that night. The incredible sound, fun environment and dedicated fans were like nothing he had ever experienced before. From that night on, Nick’s love for the music continued to grow exponentially. Over the next several years Nick continued to catch live DJ sets and electronic band acts in Texas, California, and Florida. Then one magical Christmas, in 2003, Nick finally got his own turntables and a 2 channel mixer. From that point on he has never looked back!

M.E.E.K.O., aka Multiple Electronic Elements Kollaborating as One, is a name derived from Nick’s last name, D’Amico. His Army friends would simply call him “Meeko” for short. This nickname stuck and became his chosen DJ name. The acronym was created to describe Nick’s style of music. He is a true fan of all EDM and likes to spin dance music influenced by many different sub-genres. Depending on the environment he is in, you may hear anything from deep dark tech-house to dirty bass-driven electro to flavorful Latin house to melodic progressive and occasionally even a break beat or two sprinkled on top. M.E.E.K.O. is currently an upcoming DJ in the Tampa Bay area. He is always looking for ways to improve his skills. One day he hopes to be the headliner DJ and share his musical tastes among the masses!
